Europe – update (10)

Many of the factors and processes which will come into play during the economic and social disintegration of Europe are well understood. The idea of de-possessing the haves was rehearsed numerous times when social upheavals struck. One example of this well-established practice is the “nationalisation” (in plain English: robbery) of the private property in the Eastern Bloc countries after WW2. The ultimate blueprint for the communist takeover, the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917, was even put to effective use outside of Europe by the likes of Mao and Pol Pot. It is also quite predictable what happens when the thin veneer of civility maintained by the state falls off – dregs and lowlives come out in force to rob, rape and pillage. The reason why I was not willing to speculate in my May 2012 post on how Europe would fall apart was the somewhat unpredictable interaction of the two political forces – socialism and Islam.

Historically, socialism and Islam got on just fine. For example the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseini, was an avid supporter of Nazism. He met Mussolini, Hitler and Himmler, and even resided in Berlin from 1941 to the end of WW2.

He shared the Nazis’ hate for the Jews and admired the way they went about “solving” the “Jewish problem”. This is best expressed by the caption under the photo below:

The mufti put Islam and Nazism on the same level, claiming “there were considerable similarities between Islamic principles and National Socialism”

There are indeed considerable similarities between Islam and socialism. Both are the authoritarian systems which aim to control the World through conversion and/or conquest. Both thrive on suppression of dissent. Both hate the idea of the individuals making decisions for themselves. Of course, National Socialism was a brand of early mainstream socialism – see my previous posts:

The similarities between Islam and socialism are further evidenced by the spread of Arab Socialism in 1950s and 1960s. It swept through the Arab World like wildfire bringing to power despotic autocrats in countries as diverse as Libya, Egypt and Iraq. But, since Euro-socialism has embraced atheism and democracy I was not sure of the dynamic which would develop during the disintegration of Europe. There was a possibility of the local Muslim population reaching for political power at the early stages of the process, by staging an uprising. The clerics could then call for a jihad at which point the militants from outside of Europe would flood in to help their Muslim brothers establish a Caliphate. But, for reasons which will be mentioned in the next post, this scenario has now been eliminated from my projections.
